Do drivers pump their own fuel in Oregon? When I went thru Oregon in '07 in my 4-wheeler I wasn't allowed to pump the fuel. The attendant said it was against state law. Is it different for you guys?

Oregon and New Jersey I think are still full serve states, except for diesel. Don't forget you need your PUC to fuel there, also.

    xlsdraw Thanks this.

You can pump your own diesel into your fourwheeler at most stations but as far as gasoline it is against the law

Public Utilities Commission. It's in your packet of paperwork in your truck. It's the Oregon permit. You must carry it in the state of Oregon or it's a crazy fine, like $500 or something. You'll need it when you fuel as well, that way you pay (or your company) the lower price based on tax. Also don't forget Oregon is VERY strict on log books. If you pass through an open scale, they record what time you came through, every scale, and if you are pulled in it must match your logs. And also, don't forget that PUC permit. You NEED IT TO TRAVEL IN OREGON IN A COMMERCIAL VEHICLE!!!! Other than that Oregon has some amazing scenery and awesome rest areas nestled into scenic places!!!!

You can fuel without a PUC in OR by paying fuel tax. If you are in a non-commercial vehicle you don't require a PUC. State Patrol can pull up scale info on the computers in their cars as well as all scales having records of your activities at all scales. As has been mentioned you must have Weight-Mile Receipt issued by PUC BEFORE entering state.

Oregon stinks. But I do like the law where they have the short skirted skating ladies come out and fuel your truck for you.

Not legally, you can't. Some stations may overlook it, especially if they're busy. But the law doesn't care if it's diesel or gas.

480.330 Operation of gasoline dispensing device by public prohibited; aviation fuel exception. An owner, operator or employee of a filling station, service station, garage or other dispensary where Class 1 flammable liquids, except aviation fuels, are dispensed at retail may not permit any person other than the owner, operator or employee to use or manipulate any pump, hose, pipe or other device for dispensing the liquids into the fuel tank of a motor vehicle or other retail container.

The law is ambiguous at best. Why am I not surprised? In one section it says the law applies only to Class 1 Flammable liquids, which diesel is not, but this section says any fuel if Class 1 is also dispensed there. Many service stations have a sign on the diesel pumps saying "self service" and will not pump it for you, others will not let you pump it. It has been this way forever. There must be a loophole or other requirement somewhere.
