I have searched and found some good info but just need a little more help. I maintain a small fleet of trucks in knoxville, tn. My boss has a 97 pete with a 475 cat we also have a 00 pete with a 550 cat. We have them side by side in the shop to service them and I mentioned that the 00 pete had a larger compressor housing on the turbo to which my boss replied "can we put it on my truck and if so will it help". This brings me to my question, I began to further inspect each turbo to find that the or-7923 has a larger compressor housing but a smaller turbine housing than the or-7205. Would the or-7923 be better or just stick with the or-7205. Also i am robbing the 550 ecm (going to set injectors to 5232) off another truck for the 97 and also planning on installing a turbo blanket and fuel temp resistor.
thanks in advance
or-7923 vs or-7205

No opinions on this?

The size of the housing do make a difference. What's the wheel size in each housing. The bigger turbine housing may have a slightly smaller wheel and vice versus for the smaller housing having a bigger wheel.

From what my measurements show both compressor wheels and both turbine wheels are the same, but the mounting for the compressor housing on the 7923 is much larger in diameter. The turbine housing on the 7205 appears to have the same mounting flange to the center section as the 7923. If possible i might try to mix housings and take truck for a test drive and just see what happens. Of course all this hinges on leaving the center sections alone.
Mr. Haney i read on another post that you produce the cat performance harness for this application if so where could one go to purchase this. thanks in advance. -
If the turbine and compressor wheels are the same size, then to have the most volume(CFM) you'd want the bigger housings on each side of the turbo this may make it sluggish to respond though. The bigger turbine housing will allow it to flow more exhaust CFM and drop back pressure. The freer flowing exhaust will help fuel mileage the most

Thanks that's what i will go for then.
