I've just recently finished my truck driving school and passed my cdl test in two shots. (timed out on my first test so didnt have enough time for road and then just did road and passed my second time)
My initial plan was to sign on with western express because the pay looked good, but im having second thoughts after reading how poor their training and overall company is to drivers.
After looking at a bunch of companies that hire with no experience Nussbaum seems to be a cut above the rest, but i can't seem to find any info from other drivers how their training, pay, and overall business is.
The only info I have is, because of my location in Massachusetts, training would be a month on Illinois and then a full month with a trainer with my home time after that being every 3 or 4 weeks.
Is Nussbaum the real deal like all the reviews say they are? Or should i be looking else where for my initial training and starting experience?
Thanks in advance.

They loan their trucks to the illinois State Police so they can spy on people when they're driving. That a would be a deal killer for me.

I've don't remember hearing negatives about Nussbaum. Make them have a current driver doing OTR, or whatever you are expecting to do, contact you and ask him t describe his typical week, his pay, home time, and anything else you need to know. Don't forget to ask about parking the truck during home time. While parking the truck at home MAY be more convenient, don't just assume you can or that your neighbors/cops will agree until you know for a fact you can. If there is a Home Owner Association in your neighborhood, the HOA probably doesn't approve. Some cities ticket commercial vehicles parked in residential neighborhoods. It's better, IMO, to park the truck during home time at the company terminal or yard so maintenance can be done without you throwing away your time waiting for it to get done.

I know a guy that works there and he loves it. Doesn't mean all drivers do but I wouldn't be afraid to try them if I was going to be a company driver.

Just from passing them on the road it appears they have good equipment.
Aren't they the ones who have specialized trailers for certain customers like roller floors and such?Another Canadian driver, tscottme and DemsDaBreaks Thank this. -

Don't believe anything bad about Nussbaum, they are awesome. Western Express on the other hand is a horrible place.
