Im docked at my reciever now at 2300. Delivery is for 0400 but i only have an hour left on my hos. Can i open the reefer doors and drop the trailer? Will it stay at the temp needed for 5 hours? I'd like to be able to get some sleep and not have to wake up in 5 hours to drop and hook then creep down the parking lot to crash for anothe 3 hours or so.

Depends on what temp you're trying to maintain. If there is a temp variance detection device at the rear of the trailer, it may well trip. Unless you've got a candy or produce or some other "non-critical" temp product, I wouldn't do it. Also depends on the outside temp where you're at.

Thanks. Temp is programmed for 18 degrees and its reading 15. Outside temp is 54. I guess ill wake up early. I just dont like tricking the qualcomm. I worry about whether or not im gonna hit that 7/10ths of a mile while pulling forward, backing and driving in the parking lot

    Welcome to trucking!

They gave you a dock? Backed in a dock with the doors open will hold the temp unless it is like a -20 load in texas.

How busy are they? can you keep sleeping in the dock for your ten then go get your paperwork after that?

Otherwise, do they have a yard dog that will pull hte empty trailer for you? Do they charge for that?

Depends on the dock......is it set up where the staging area is refrigerated between the dock and warehouse ? or, is it wide open where outside air gets in ? Sucking in warm air to an open reefer, a big no-no.
