Never mind Landstar - double brokering mosquitoes.
15900.00 year from Progressive for a new entrant is still pretty good - considering what they quote to others. They must like you.

You guys think it's worth paying 7k a year more for insurance and staying away for OOIDA?

    I would save money!
If you don't have CHR, Coyote, XPO, TQL, HUB, JB Hunt...big ones on that list then OOIDA should be ok.

Is it the same as J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. ? I'd call them and ask if they take OOIDA or not. If so, They will set up with you after 6 months since becoming active.
This OOIDA insurance is really inexpensive as for the first time carrier. You won't get any better quote. Are they any good though with claims, responding to your certificate holder requests, etc ? I am curios myself.

I don't see CHR, TQL nor Coyote on that list. It's looking good for a new entrant with OOIDA insurance. I'm calling for a quote ASAP. Progressive quoted me 12k as a Florida resident but if I can do better, every little bit helps.

If you call OOIDA, ask to speak to Patrick. He is very timely about calling you back. They go give you a list of 25 brokers that will not accept their insurance, and the main one seems to be Landstar and JB Hunt Intermodal. They list it as JB HUNT Intermodal Division - Dray Carriers Dedicated Contract Services. The rest are brokers that I don't ever hear about. They do have Universal Forest Products on the list - which I hate - because I hauled quite a bit out of there as a contractor.

    RStewart and DSK333 Thank this.

Got a quote from Progressive just under $13k for my new authority. Going to see what OOIDA has to say.

Little late, but I just received the OOIDA quote of $13K. Progressive is less expensive in my case.

From what I understand, OOIDA insurance is underwritten by Lloyds, which is not an American insurance company, so they don't have an AM Best rating.
