I just got quoted $9,600 as a new entrant at OOIDA. This is for $150,000 cargo, 1 mil liability, no physical damage. This I thought was a decent deal until they gave me the long list of brokerages they don't do business with.
Is OOIDA actually that bad of a set back in terms of business flexibility? If so, where are some other places I can try for my insurance needs? [as a new entrant] I live in Louisiana
I also wonder about my future direct customers... if Ooida would be an issue for their operations
Thanks
OOIDA liability/cargo insurance?

Can you post that list of brokers? I knew Landstar does not work with them, but have no idea who others are
csmith1281 Thanks this. -
Landstar doesn't because they are butt-hurt over the fact that OOIDA successfully sued them a few years ago over some things they shouldn't have been doing. Don't remember the of that case, but I'm wondering how many others are on that list for similar reasons which have absolutely nothing to do with the insurance itself but rather the organization providing it.
rakusa, nightgunner, csmith1281 and 3 others Thank this. -
There is a lot that won't use them. I would go elsewhere for insurance for that reason
csmith1281 and HopeOverMope Thank this. -

Pardon my expression, but OOIDA sounds like a poor trucker Insurance. It is not rated. Landstar is the least of the problem. They are not the best brokers out there. There are many others and worthy setting up with, who won't take it as they require at least A- rating.

Still about half a year away from the move but once I heard Ooida 's price I was pretty satisfied, as I feel like they respected my dependability.
But am unsure if I'll hurt myself going that route. I'm with a company now who has an established MC so brokers have no issue with me, but I pay for insurance through their provider, pay my cut and book my own freight!!! So... just working toward a better plan -
Ok. I thought they were accepting new entrants again.

@HopeOverMope im looking at insurance too. I have great credit and had my CDL since 1992 with clean driving record. It's tough. I'm with a deal just like you but want to start my own numbers. Rates are prohibitive for me so far but most have just flat turned me down.
csmith1281, OLDSKOOLERnWV and HopeOverMope Thank this.
