Never heard of a company that figures experience that way.
They go by hire date to termination/resignation date, as 77martin posted.

Yeah, I don't like feeling or being viewed as a job hopper, at all. Sucks and I wish I could go back in time.

One company kept asking me to operate illegally, almost got in a bad bad way over it so I quit them. Next company lost a lot of their freight, sat at truck stops for 2-3 days commonly waiting on a load, next company had a family member in the hospital with no one to take care of them. Current company I like but need local work.

Life is not perfect, but I have yet to give up.

Nice to know I'm not at least completely crazy. Yeah, I've heard of actual days being counted but from what I've been told by several places long ago (or so I thought) was "We count the months, month by month" more or less.

That should be your first clue to stay away...

What you may have holding against you is the gaps between each one. Some if you are not driving for 60 - 90 days, then it does not count. They want a solid 12 months... Jan 1 - Dec 30 with no gaps.

What also may be against you is the amount of jobs you had in one year. 4 jobs in a year... this will sound like job hopping.

The amount of time you spend with each employer. You would seem that you would hold a job 2-3 months then go somewhere else. This is a big red flag... They would look at it like you will leave again..

You need to find a company and work for one year straight... no gaps, no jumping jobs.

I tried to work at least 14 months with any company, if I did not like them then I could move on. I gave it a good shot to a future employer.

Four jobs in one year is not good. That weeds out the better employers that like stability and you get another job where you want to quit. The snowball effect. You see where this is going?

For some unknown reason I gave any job 7 months. For one it's too much hassle to change jobs so quick. I just don't think you can make a good decision in a month or two. You have to get to know the company and make the best of it. There are things you can do to make a bad company better or you can make it worse. You can start with requesting a new dispatcher. They can make or break a company/driver relationship. I've had bad companies that had one good dispatcher and I had good companies and a bad dispatcher. I've had one company I went through three dispatchers (two got fired) before I found a great dispatcher. I was glad I waited it out and stayed there three years until that dispatcher quit. I wasn't far behind as the next one sucked. :)

I can see how, or why, they are counting it that way. They are looking at facts from your dac most likely and we are getting only months from you, so, a brief scenario...

If you drove Dec 30th to Jan 5th, you are counting that as 2 months, whereas they see it as a week. Not saying that's what the dates were, it's just probably an over exaggerated example.

like others stated never use an agency to find a job
first off normally agencies find you temp work and you get paid less than you should, second a lot of companies who have issues getting people hired use agencies to find them people.
As for craigslist etc you will only find companies posting on there that are shady or just not worth working for, any of the reputable companies have their own hiring system on a website or you just go in person to talk to them since some dont need to post at all.

I dont know what company your working for but maybe you can look to see if they have any type of local routes, dedicated etc to keep you more "local" and get your experience in that you need.
