I hope I am being too paranoid with this question. I am thinking of getting on with a company that has a driver facing camera in all their trucks. I sometimes drive with only one hand on the wheel for minutes at a time. If we assume that I will never have an accident or a citation, do you think I will be disciplined or even fired for driving with only one hand on the wheel?

lol so its come to this....nanny state ftl

That is something the company will go over during training/orientation. They should give you some kind of manual with all the company guidelines. With that said I would not ever work for a company with driver facing cameras.

My company uses the Smith system guidelines and also has drive cams. I've set mine off many times and never had an issue with them complaining about me not having 2 hands all the time

Some companies are very strict with the number of seconds they will allow only one hand on steering wheel before it generates some level of being addressed by the safety department.

I would want to see their written driving safety protocol policy before taking the job. And realize these policies can be changed later, for the better but probably for the worse.

If your on here asking that question it's not the job for you. Okay.. I'm not trying to be mean but seriously truckers need to stand up for themselves and don't drive with that camera facing them. Out the windshield I can deal with maybe but not facing me.

I doubt it.Some of us drive better with only one hand on the steering wheel.

Guess you'll have to buy a beer helmet if you're gonna have to keep both hands on the wheel. How else will you hold it? Practical solutions for legitimate problems.

These will be popular for future mega drivers. Mountain Dew in one, and Slimfast in the other and you can safely truck for hours

Not sure about hours..... Can we modify the helmet to hold a 2-litre of Dew?

Well, that's an upgrade option that also comes with a handy catheter setup and corresponding long-range 2 liter collection bag, for those critical loads that absolutely, positively have to be there.
