I even pulled propane powered reefers. Some would shut off then go "BANG" real loud as gas did'nt quite shut off.

I hear you on the Monfort lane my father had one truck however that would make them GET OUT OF HIS WAY. He an old cabover Freightliner 1963 screws maxed out in it 5 X 4 trans 3 speed Eaton rear ends. Lets just say Bossman NEVER LET HIM put her all the way to the wall except one time going across NV when they were Resonable and Proper however that cop did not think that 147 was R&P even at 3 am on a clear night on I-80. I have seen the warning ticket and his boss even verified that speed to me because he also got had the cop right it out for him so the shop would know how fast that truck was.

Sounds about right. I am a member of the Ca. 100 Club and you have to know the difference between " A Largecar and a Big Truck". Can't afford that today and with all the crazies out there it really wouldn't be safe. Not that it was back then but you know what I mean.Rool On!!!

Behind the Bolingbrook orange ball there was a fork in the road drop lot that sold fuel and had a 20X20 driver and attendant shack.
This one should go on the worst T/S thread !!
I would empty out in the wee hours and use the joint. They had a payphone! The real T/S was packed.
One morning the attendant swiped my wallet when i left it out on his counter. He had a corner of the shack reinforced for his security like a bank or modern fuel stops, He reached out his little teller window and grabbed my wallet ! I was too wore out to notice.
I was a very long way fom my home 20. I needed to pay the 90 cent toll or drop down on 30, ect so I went knocking truck to truck with my pocket knife for sale for $5.
Every driver refused until I came to the Monfort o/o. He got out and pulled a large amount of cash out and said "How much Ya need"!!
I said $5 he laid a twenty on me and refused to accept my pocket knife.
I made it home good & bought a chain drive.
I never had a chance to repay him. Monfort is long gone.
Im forever greatfull.RubyEagle, cabovercrazy, lv gn and 2 others Thank this. -
That's great to hear. We had alot of super nice drivers that really cared. Hard to find that nowadays. Glad to hear the driver helped you out.
