I don't take the toll roads as long as there is another route.

I don't mind as long as the toll is equal to the fuel I'd be using hitting all the traffic lights. Not to mention the wear and tear on brakes and the motor. I may just be looKing at it the wrong way tho seeing I have grown up with 294 and the IN Tollroad as a daily occurrence.

I do also ask the agent to add some more $ to the rate for tolls and they usually do.

The best way of looking at it. Especially with the increasing amount of elogs out there.

US75 isn't that bad of a detour route, though. It's not like US20 in OH vs. the Turnpike, for instance.

Tolls have gotten way out of line. States that have toll roads also want us to pay fuel taxes for the same miles in their state. That is double taxation. I didn't mean to get up on my soapbox on this issue, but it has been a sore point with me for many years. Roads that charge an additional toll are also usually poorly maintained. If they charge a toll then the roads should be pristine. I can usually find a way around most toll roads without adding too many extra miles. As high as many tolls are these days, you can afford to spend a few dollars for fuel to bypass them.
