I have a leak around my oil pan gasket. I had inframe done a year ago,& a new gasket was put on. it leaks just as much before inframe on gasket as before, so I doubt another gasket would help. could the oil pan be warped after so many years? it is original. would a new pan & new bolts do any good? would a new gasket & silicone do any good? ser 60 11.1 det. 1.4 mil miles. leaking 2 gal between 10,000 oil changes. I am afraid a full d.o.t insp will get me wrote up for oil leak. thank's

If it's fibreglass, locate the crack and repair it with JB Weld.

it is either plastic or fiberglass. it leaks all around the gasket. not every inch, but where the gasket meets the pan & block, so I don't think it is a crack. by looking at it, you would think all the bolts are lose, but they are bottomed out.

no. don't think so. original bolts. it always leaked, just leaking more over time.

Oil tends to follow around things, sometimes it's hard to pinpoint what is a leak and what has moved there. The whole gasket appearing to be leaking makes me suspect a crack in the pan up near the gasket.

Good luck with finding the cause, if it drips visibly while you are driving it, it could get you stopped at a scale house or a rest areain some states.

did they forget to put washers on the bolts? just to add when i did my inframe i put a small smear of silicon on the gasket and ran a extra bead of silicon at the front and rear of gasket (oil pan)

Just make absolutely sure there is no leak from higher up the engine. Oil has a weird way of flowing around things and causing mis-diagnosis. The block may not have been cleaned properly when the pan was put on and you need to put some silicone over the seems where the front cover and bell housing bolt to the block. These are common areas for leaks.

Look at the block at the rear of starter motor and and on the opposite side where your oil pressure gauge pick up is situated and see if you have oil seepage where the rear engine housing bolts to the block - if you do nine times out of ten you have too reseal the housing
