Thanks for all the input on the matter, gentlemen. I ended up taking the wheels and drum off. Then I cleaned all the grease off all the surfaces including the shoes and inside of the drum with Brakleen. Them I scrubbed the shoes with more Brakleen and dug all the grease out of the rivet holes too. There was a significant amount all over.
I did try the easy way fist by driving it around a little but I think there was just too much grease to drive it all off. I'm fairly confident DOT would of hit me with an OOS violation if I left it as it was. Just glad I didn't have to put new shoes on since the ones on there now only have about 3k on them.
The shoes still look kind of stained/darker than the others. There's no signs of grease and/or oil around but I'm still leery of running into an overly aggressive DOT cop. -
Oh hell, I thought you were talking like a little glob got on there. That sounds more like your neighbor stopped by to chat while you were greasing the truck, your ADHD set in, you saw a chicken and forgot to let go of the trigger until six hours later.Grubby and JimmyWells Thank this. -
