I have a 9'9" wide load from NY to MN. Permit company has sent all permits except Ohio and Indiana, instead they sent an application to apply directly. Reading over the Ohio one it looks as if the carrier is required to carry $5,000,000. Is this correct or am I reading it wrong?

I called the permit company and left a message about it, haven't heard back from them yet (Saturday). I was wondering if any one here runs OD through Ohio and might know for sure.

If you don't want all the hassle. Get a revision in Pa.(not sure if you can do this you may have to reapply) If you are coming in on I90 and under 90K gross. Take 79 south to the Pa. pike. You would be beyond the toll booths so you get a free ride to Ohio. To get on the Ohio turnpike they will sell you a $25 permit plus your toll. They do measure you sometimes so be sure you are under 10' wide and like I said 90K gross. Indiana I think it's basicly the same and if you have EZ pass you probably could breeze on through. Get off the In. toll road at Portage and act like you know what you are doing over to the Il. line. No speed restriction on the Ohio pike for oversize. Can we say 70MPH if you so desire. Also Ohio and i'm pretty sure In. will let you run after the sun goes down on the toll roads.

Company I am leased to pulls my permit so I can't help there, but I do know that in Ohio you need to put your fuel stops , or any other stops in your permits.

    its only 500,000.

FMCSA requires 1 million on your Insurance to operate in US...so your fine, have your office people send the form to your insurance agent and he will fax or email to Ohio DOT.

It HAS to come directly from your insurance agency also.

Thanks guys for all the info. So I guess I was reading it wrong, the copy of the application they emailed me was pretty crappy like a poor fax. I saw 500,000.00 and thought it was 5,000,000.

I loaded Friday and brought it back to my yard. Going to leave out Monday around 2am. I'll give the ins. co. a call Monday morning and try to get it going.

    Thanks again.

DrFlush is right about getting off the road for fuel in Oh. and I don't think you can route yourself into truckstops. If you use the turnpikes you can stop anywhere you want plus gain time my guess is you would have maybe $150.00 invested. Also the scale at Hubbard,Oh. is pretty tough, the DOT is there almost every day. If you do run the In. toll road have cash, small bills to put into the unmanned toll collectors. The In. DOT has hung out at the 92 mile post for 40 years that I know of and still favor it. My experience has been they are very easy to deal with.
