Got a bet with a buddy who thinks it takes a wider turn to maneuver a set of pups as opposed to a single 53. Anyone have any off tracking diagrams or something of that nature?

Don't need any pictures! Common sense and driving for 29 years......doubles bend in the middle, less off track.
CondoCruiser Thanks this. -
yep. you definitely can make tighter turns with a set. while in truck school..instructor had me drive a set in a tight circle to show me how tight they turned.

I learned that my first week of driving. I started with a doubles company. Second pup always tracks first pup. Like okie said, they break in the middle. I can make a drawing for you, lol.
And just like them city buses that have a break in the middle with a rubber skirt. They didn't build them for the fun of it. They corner tighter.

Ever watch a train of 3-5 baggage wagons turning while waiting in the plane? The last one almost follows the same track as the first one.

I'm well aware. But how do you explain this to a person who is not willing to believe it? Drive thru paint?

Hell, print out all the responses from this post and shove them in his face. Then make him buy ya that steak dinner you bet him. You did beat him a steak right? -
There is a reason for combinations and steer trailers like the one below. Can you imagine trying to turn a corner with 80 foot pipe on your trailer without being able to steer the trailer duals or haul a load of logs out of the brush on a goat trail. Like Kittyfoot said......
