I was back to work next day, just light duty status-do not lift anything.

i had a bilateral (this means one on each side) hernia back in the early 1980's.

back then, there wasn't any screen that they use today. i had to be sewn up inside, then of course outside.

took nearly 6 months to fully heal, and one side, took longer to heal..

back to work after doctor released me 7 months later. (short physical therapy sessions) for a month. luckily for me too, i did not have to load/unload any freight at that carrier.

At least four weeks. Doctor is concerned about being seated for long periods at a time while healing

This sounds like a reasonable precaution. If you are a company driver, maybe you can get some light duty work or short term disability?

If you have to climb into the back of a trailer after surgery, you likely won't appreciate it much.

I drive for a mega. Have not told them about the situation and will not til it’s scheduled. Canadian health care being what it is the actual operation is months away. Not sure what their response will be

    Much Bigger.

I had one done at age one. About as early as they dared do it, its still present. Realm of microsurgery in those days as small I was then.

When I had the appendix taken out doc said stay home 6 weeks, I was rolling within three. From what i understand via the surgeon's report that entire area is full of scar tissue preexisting so there must have been other work or injury to that region at some point in my life. He did explore and make sure that it's not going to be more of a problem than it was already.

In your situation with a actual tear going on, you do not want to aggravate it any more than it is already. It can go from something that might be done later to something that is a true emergency in a hurry. Particularly if your guts start spilling against your skin layer bulging outside of the body as it tears bigger.

If that does not scare you into fixing it soon I don't know what will.
