Is the Delco starter just as good as the OEM that Peterbilt was trying to sell me for $100 more? Will be installing the Delco Monday.

I don't have much experience with a Delco so anyone out there that has one, are you satisfied with it? Have long have you had it for?

    Thanks

Delco is a major supplier of electrical parts for all sorts of vehicles..

make sure you get to ask how long it is warranted for.

The OEM starter from the factory was manufactured by Delco Remy.

Most OEM starters were a full size 42MT or the 39MT, (which is a gear reduction starter).

Most starters new or remanufactured are warrantied for one year from the date of purchase.

My truck uses a Delco Remy 42MT which lasts for about 4-5 years in normal use.

The starter solenoid is usually the first thing to go when they start to fail.

The mojority of the replacement starters that are sold at most parts warehouses and the stealership are remanufactured Delco Remy.

If you want a brand new Delco Remy, it's going to cost you a song, make sure you ask if it's remanufactured or new.

Also there are brand new Made in China 42MT and 39MT copies out there, but I don't know how good they are.

This one is a 39MT. I could be wrong but I swear he asked if I wanted the original OEM by Mitsubishi or the Delco.

The Delco I bought was $350 from Peterbilt.

I plan on keeping this truck for only another year so I wanted whatever was the cheapest.

And as far as brand currently on the truck I don't see a sticker or any markings on it to indicate the manufacturer, when it comes off Monday I'll be finding that out.

Take a picture. Most newer Paccar ones are Mitsubishi, which I prefer.

20180813_104405.jpg that's the old and new, I doubt that new one is even going to fit.

Got the new one in and still have the same issue.

Turn the key and click, click, click, click, click about 5-10 times before truck will start. Batteries are good, new starter, relay fuse is good.

    Gotta be the ignition???

That was a Mitsubishi you took out. They carry a three year unlimited mileage warranty.
