Local Trucking Company Closes; 30 Plus People to Lose Jobs
    11/2/2012 (Updated 6:46:10 PM)
Hurricane Sandy may have claimed a local company as a victim.

Workers from New York Carolina Express told us Friday they were informed the trucking company is shutting it's doors.

An employee in the rates department says the Binghamton office employs about 30-40 people.

He said Sandy destroying the company's terminal in South Plainfield, New Jersey was too much for the company to survive.

The company lists six offices on the east coast.

Well that sucks. All the best to the drivers who lost their jobs.

They've been struggling for some time now. A lot of people think the owners just cashed in and shut down.

Likely, things were probably thin for a while and Sandy just gave them a way out legally.

That su*@s .... I do know that they we having problems, a friend of mine left them a couple of months ago because he said that he "could see the writing on the wall" ... sorry to see jobs lost, weather it was the storm or not I have the feeling many companies who were on the edge of the cliff may use Sandy as an excuse to "Cash Out".

The key word is "are" ( on the edge) and not were........ The list is long and surprising too. Look at USA's last quarterly......operating ratio of 114% ? It cost him $1.14 to gross a buck? How long do you think that will last?

Depending on the election and the Bush tax cuts I believe we may see quite a few more fold up. Many folks are already wringing their hands over O'bummers health care law. Toss in the Bush cuts expiring ( maybe ) and that maybe all it takes to knock the house of cards down........

    just sayin.....
