    Greetings professional drivers.

My name is Tim and I am a Driver & Field Recruiter with Nussbaum Transportation. We are looking to expand our fleet size and we're actively looking for drivers. I'll be posting our hiring areas and general job information below. If you're interested, feel free to contact one of the company recruiters listed below, or if you have any specific questions you may feel free to PM me here on TTR and I can answer them for you or I'll send you my personal cell phone number if you'd like to talk. I am a full time company driver and can answer most questions you may have about the job itself.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:
    - Must be at least 23 years old
    - Must have at least 1 year of recent OTR experience (within the past 3 years)
    - No DUI's for the previous 5 years
    - A decent driving record with no major issues

    HIRING AREAS & HOMETIME:
Green areas are typically home weekly, gray areas are typically home every two weeks, however this can vary greatly. Hometime on weekends is not guaranteed - you may be home during the week as well as weekends. Hometime is always at least 34 hours but in most cases is longer. We run irregular routes and obviously that means that hometime is not always guaranteed, but family is extremely important to our company culture, so we make every effort to get drivers home to their loved ones.

No hazmat? What are their policies on tolls, routing, fuel stops?

We don't mess with hazmat at all. We do have a small number of loads in which we carry large containers full of liquids in the trailer which require a tanker endorsement, so that'll snag you some extra loads if you happen to have it.

Company pays all tolls. They'll equip your truck with all of the toll passes for areas you'll be running. I have EZPass/I-Pass, Pikepass, K-Tag, and another one for TX. Not tolltag but some other one LOL.

The company pays actual miles (gate to gate) instead of the standard zip code to zip code. Because of that, they want drivers to have an out of route percentage of 2% or less. If there's a reason that you need or want to change the route given, you can call in and ask for them to add a "track point" into the computer in order to keep your OOR down. Most of the time they'll make the change for you as long as it doesn't add a huge amount of miles onto the trip.

We have an EFS card and have the ability to fuel anywhere that takes it, but they do use a fuel optimizer system which gives you a list of authorized stops along your route. Fueling up at as many of these as possible nets you quite a few points on your scorecard, which can lead to pretty decent mileage bonuses.

Do they have driver facing cameras? If so, how does that work?

They are in the process of installing cameras on the trucks that face both inward and outward.

The cameras record in timed loops (I believe it's 2 minutes but I'm not positive) and the footage is only saved and sent to the company if an event (like an impact) is recorded. The system has a keypad installed on the dash where the driver can enter a code and disable the inward facing camera when the truck is stopped.

Thats better than many I have heard of, for when parked. Are drivers allowed to make calls with headsets while rolling?

Not sure why everyone isn't working here.

Yes, there's no specific policy against making calls with a bluetooth headset while driving... just don't hit anything LOL.

They're good people here. It took me years to find the "diamond in the rough" company, and this is most definitely one of them. Just today, I received a card in the mail that said Happy Anniversary (Been here a year now) and the card was signed by all of the company staff, up to and including the CEO and owner himself. Also included was a $100 gift card.

Do you drive mostly daytime or night tome? I drive for a large chicken company, mostly at night, sleeping in the daytime in a cascadia with the battery based apu which doesn't keep the truck cool for the entire sleep period.

From what I can tell ya'll use the same things. I admit I *could* be setting the controls wrong but I have reaf the user manual.

Sleeping at night reallt seems best for this system.

I would say that I drive daytime at least 80% of the time, and a majority of the time that I drive nights, it's my choice. Although several of our customers are open 24 hours a day, a majority are only open during the day and and closed on weekends. I'm sure the occasional night drive is required, but it's definitely not the norm.

Yeah, we use the same old ParkSmart APUs that most Freightliners have. I will say that our shop at the HQ in Illinois is actually partnered with Truck Centers Inc. and we have actual Freightliner certified mechanics (which can perform ALL warranty work) on site that work on the trucks. So they're very good about getting things repaired correctly, and they're fast too.

I've never once been told not to idle if I wasn't comfortable, and although it can have a negative impact on your scorecard, it's not really enough to affect much. If you're getting 8.0 mpg or more from your truck, they won't say a word about idling here and there when you need to. My idle time is at 28% (double the 10% goal) but I take some restarts away from home and idle during the daytime. The only time I ever got a call about my idling is when I had an idle percentage of 86% one week, and they just forgot about the fact that I had just taken several days off that week and stayed out over the weekend, and it was too hot not to idle.
