I'm looking for some drivers who have run northeast regional before and get an idea of what to expect out of it? Good idea, bad idea? Horror stories? Give me the good bad and the ugly. I appreciate any testimonies... Thanks alot!

oh, many one way streets, GPS not always helpful, construction that pops up anytime, no warnings. detours in some cities too small for trucks.KillingTime Thanks this. -
I don't have any major issues with the NE. Sure, sometimes ya gotta get creative, but that's part of the fun / challenge. I drive it everyday. It really isn't that challenging. You'll be fine.
Longarm Thanks this. -
Really depends on the freight you're hauling as to the customers you'll be picking up/delivering too.
It's not that bad. Not even close to what you're going to hear in this thread. The learning curve is steep but once you do, you're one of us golden boys.Danch Thanks this. -
It's cold, but the people are really friendly.

Most are too scared or ignorant to run up there. And while I don't think it's all that bad at this point, it'll make you a driver - a good one - in a hurry.Bob Dobalina and Danch Thank this. -

It's a lot of sitting in traffic and plodding through slow moving traffic and fighting for someplace to park at the end of the day. Most NE regional carriers pay a little better per mile than average because the miles just aren't there compared to running in the more open parts of the country. It's not my favorite part of the country to deal with but ill still NE over down south any day.

Keep plenty of money in your pocket for tolls if you don't have a prepass/EZPass and give yourself plenty of extra time to get where you are going. Watch your clearances and be careful of the roads you get on up there. I would make sure I had a good road atlas when running up there. Of course, if you run up there exclusively, youll learn what roads you can and cant get on. Good Luck. Also keep in mind in NJ that if you are on hwys 1& 9, you have to first turn right to turn left lol
