Outside the cab yes, inside no, and get out if it's inside.

Some is normal, mostly at start up.
Lots of smoke all the time is not good. You may need to have the unit serviced/cleaned. Usually takes about 2 hours to remove, rebuild and reinstall. To reset the unit, it takes a “ diagnostic unit” to plug into and reset the thing. Usually only authorized dealers/service locations have it. It will work without doing that, just will always display “ check heater” all the time.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Always smoke outside.
NEVER INSIDE. If you get it inside GTFO of there, it will probably cremate you if you lollygag around trying to gather up sentimental valuables.alds and BigDog Trucker Thank this. -
You guys need to run these heaters once a month every month for at least ten minutes.
buzzarddriver and Long FLD Thank this. -
Truckermania Thanks this.

I think if there was smoke inside the OP wouldn't be here typing this thread.
My Espar smokes sometimes. Use regularly for best luck. Gotta keep the soot burned off with these units.
OP, if you've never used the heater before you're probably just burning the factory gunk out of it.BigDog Trucker Thanks this.
