Hello, I am a rookie driver who will be posting lots of rookie type questions. I have so much learning to do and I appreciate any input you all can offer.
I work for a company that uses many different trucks. From Petes to Macks to Western Stars and more. I have to drive all of them when requested. There is so much to remember about each truck. One issue I struggle with is normal engine oil pressure. Everything I have read shows different values for different engine types and sizes.
Is there a general rule of thumb for normal engine oil pressure? As in 10 psi per 1000 rpm?

Not having much experience, I don't know when to know if my oil pressure is too high or too low other than remembering what the gauge typically states as I drive it and assuming that is the normal.

You're over think it. If you had low oil pressure, youll get a warning light. If you're still concerned look up specs for every engine youll be driving. There is no universal formula

You'll find they all are around 35ish normal operating pressure.
If you see it go up to like 45 or 50, or down to 20, you have a situation.

My Cat idles about 42 and a peak it runs 65 to 68. On a long pull when it get pretty warm, it will get down to 62.

Just switched over to 2015 T680 with the Cummins, what's the norm for oil pressure for Idling and running at 1500 RPM
    I'm used to a C15 CAT in a 08 9400 international.
    Thank you in advance

With your hopping from one seat to another, I would suggest using your phone to take pictures of the gauges, with cold /hot, low and high pressures. Do the same with the whole dashboard. I use my phone for a kinds of things like that.

Gen rule of thumb most will be 45-70 ish range normal temps at highway speeds. And about half that when idle with a warm engine

The idiot light will go off if pressure drops and shut it down before it hurts itself
