On my 359 how would i go about converting the truck to hub piloted wheels? Is it as easy as buying new wheels & lug nuts? Do i need new studs as well?

FoolsErrand, Caterpillar Cowboy, stillwurkin and 1 other person Thank this. -
You would have to change hubs complete and wheels, studs and nuts. Drums maybe too.
You have Budd now?GreenPete359, stillwurkin and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
edit: i’m gonna get tires for it Saturday, i wanted to swap out the steel drives for aluminum. At this point tho, i’ll keep what i have.
I haven’t fully decided what i’m doing with the truck yet. Restore & sell or restore, single it out & buy a 5th wheel camper to drag around with it.
Main goal right now is running & driving this summer. By that i mean ready to go...not being afraid to jump in & take a road trip in it.
i can get non commercial tags for it, only hardship there is finding non commercial insurance.Last edited: May 8, 2020
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
My '85 had tubeless spokes with Rockwells, , and I swapped everything from a IH 9670 cabover with Dana's. The axle ends were the same for the spokes and the pilot hubs. I was going to do the same thing with my Pete, mount a small camper on the back, but decided, 35 years in one was enough, I didn't want to drive one while retired. Got any pics of the old gal?

The Truck could probably benefit from new bearings anyway. Front hub sets, including bearings aren’t too expensive. $350 each maybe? Rear hubs? Or? Lots of choices.
GreenPete359 and Bean Jr. Thank this.
