So I know a lot of company's will advertise 90% or 98% no touch freight, mostly drop and hook and etc..

I wanted to get some info from drivers that are with schneider, what is your experience with loading or unloading your own loads? I've heard that a lot of schneider loads aren't on pallets and sometimes drivers have to stack boxes and such. Also is it mostly just drop and hook or is there a lot of waiting to deliver and keeping the same trailer. I'm hoping to start on with Schneider next year and be an OTR driver for all 48 states..

    Thanks for any advice!

I have been with SNI a year now. I have NEVER touched any freight. The closest I ever came was that I had to block and brace one load with 2 x 4's. That took maybe 10 minutes. I have had to sit for live loads or unloads, but that is less than 30 percent of the time.

I started with Schneider as a new driver and have not been sorry I did. They are not perfect, but they have done what they said they would do. I have seen posts on here of drivers that were not happy, but it is mostly an individual thing depending on your expectations and grip on reality - plus your ability to catch on, communicate, and be flexible. There are other factors, but trucking is a team operation with your freight manager. If you do what you are expected with a decent attitude, you should do okay with Schneider. I don't plan on going any place else any time soon.

Thanks, yeah i agree it's what you as the driver make of it. I'm thinking that because i will be a new driver it might help me to start out as teams instead of solo, but do they let you pick your teammate or just stick you with someone?

ok cool i don't mind if i did have to but i just wanted to see if it was really like they advertised on the website, I would probably believe more of what i read on here than what a recruiter would tell me for the most part

I drove a pumpkin for 9 months and never had to unload/load anything that I didnt want to. I never had a problem gettting a lumper. (sometimes it may take a while to get someone on the phone, but always got authorization when asked) A few of loads were easy to unload, so I did and got paid for them.

If you have some one in mind, you can run together. Some drivers don't, so they will match you up with someone else that wants to run teams. You don't have to be with anyone you don't want to.

my experience with drop n hook was i guess about 50 percent. and half of the live loads/unloads usually didnt take more than an hour. Then there were the times i sat for hours on end waiting.

I just want to meet the person before we get assigned, i've heard too many horror stories about people that get teamed up with dirty, stinky, messy guys and never had the chance to meet them before and get to know them a little bit.

After you go through training you might change your mind about running teams. It can get cramped in the truck with 2 people pretty much living in it for weeks at a time. Also, I thought it was hard to sleep when the truck was bouncing down the road. However, there are teams out there that are very happy with it. I'm sure you will get to meet the person, but couldn't tell ya for how long before yall will have to get rolling. I would think it would be better to find someone on your own. good luck to ya.
