hi everyone. No I’m not winking at anyone, it’s just when I put my high beams on, I loose both lights on the right side. Checked the harness back to the firewall and it seems good, but when I test the junction block on the firewall I get one hot wire, which I believe is the driver side and the other one is dead. Is it possible it could be the directional switch? Fuses are good. Jumped a wire from the driver side to the passenger side and got lights but it popped the breaker. Only 10 amp. Any help would be appreciated.
No high beams on the passenger side

What are we working on? If this is the typical 4 headlight sealed beam setup, start with inspecting the pigtails and bulb contacts. They get dirty weak pins all the time. What are you missing power or ground, both?

2003 379 peterbilt. I have 2 lows and 2 highs. I’ve had both sides apart, disconnected the wires cleaned and tested all. Driver side works fine. Passenger side only gets the low beam. Followed the harness all the way back to the firewall. Both sides low beam test good, but only the driver side high beam tests good. So it seems I’m not getting juice to the pass side from inside the cab. Obviously when I turn on the high beam the hi low beam goes out.

When it popped the breaker were you trying to run all the headlights off one circuit or did you disconnect the drivers side lights?
It might be the high beam relay. -
Hi Rocket. Yes, I was doing that to test the head lights and to see if it might be in the harness. Once I saw the lights were good, I followed the harness back to the firewall where only one of the 2 high beam wires was hot. Could you tell me where to find the relay. I changed the directional switch today, but no help. Thanks to you and Goody for the comeback

In my 97 they are in the fuse box, right and left headlight relays.
I had the same problem with my right side going out on high beam. It ended up being the marker light relay. I found it by wiggling that relay and watching the brights flicker on the right. New relay and all has been good since. been a few years.
I had planned to figure out if there was an underlying problem with the right headlight and marker circuits but never got to it. Since everything was working, there were other priorities. -
Hi Luwi. If the relays are in the fuse box, I changed one and nothing. I’ll check again tomorrow, maybe I changed the wrong one. I also changed the directional switch, also no help. The one thing I don’t want to do is remove the fuse panel, but if I gotta, I gotta to get the the harness that goes out. Thanks for the comeback Luwi. Of course I’ll keep you posted.

Each headlight has it's own relay. You can check them by swapping left and right and see if the problem moves to the other headlight.
Not all relays are the same. This relay is for switching between high and low beam:

Hi Rocket. If that’s your truck in the picture you obviously own a Pete. When I turn the key to start the truck, I wait to hear all my relays in the battery box click on. When I’m working on my lights and I turn them on I also hear a relay in the box click on or off depending on which way I throw the switch. Tomorrow I’m going to look at those switches and see if maybe a wire broke. If not I will be going back to the fuse panel. Earlier this year I had issues with my gauges. A friend of mine told me how the fuse spades oxidize, so I changed all my fuses except for the square ones and everything worked again. Will be checking everything in there tomorrow. Thanks again

if it has two relays also it would have 2 fuses make sure you check fuses for both left and right high beam or circuit breakers a lot of them make problems specially if they corrode a little bit inside.
