Ok I have a 2010 Prostar with a Cummings engine and just recently i noticed I don't have heat while I'm driving. I have heat only when I'm sitting still. I changed the thermostat but to no avail. Does anyone know what my problem could be? I'm not out of the winter states yet and don't want to freeze while driving down the road. I'm thinking my heater core may be clogged or needs replacing. Thanks in advance.

I would try the heater core. I would look and see it any of the coolant shut off valve are closed.

  4. Does your fan switch work?

Have you added any "leak stop" to your radiator.?

Any water on passenger floor boards?

Sometimes the fresh air vent gets stuck open as well. Will be warm at low speeds, gets consistently cooler as speed increases. If you shut off the fan motor is cool air still blowing through the vents?

first step:feel the 2 lines going to the heater core.
When your engine is hot at least 1 line should be very warm.
    Easy and the cheapest.
Come back and tell us what you felled.

    Jabows Thanks this.

They dont make cummings with that being said

Cover the grill with cardboard and see what that does.

Check the cut off valve going to the cab. Mine looks like a house garden hose valve. Mine was so old it would spin shut. I zip tied it open.

I don't think the ProStar has a cutoff valve...
My old 2011 did not and it had the Cummins in it.

Heater core or broken actuator on the fresh air or cold-hot blend door is possible.
Checking the hoses for heat at the fire wall is the first test!

    Jabows and 77fib77 Thank this.

I actually added some leak stop last year. It stopped the radiator leak instantly. I was wondering if me doing that clogged or messed up my heater core. My fan switch does work in all positions. Low to high it blows strong.

I had the blend door replaced about 2 years ago when I first got the truck. The blend door does still work as I go from hot to cold it adjusts accordingly.
