I have just completed two weeks with my mentor and most of it has been OK up until now. First week we ran hard but the second week we have sat four out of seven days waiting on loads. Now I am in Texas and mentor decided to go home until Monday afternoon that is if we get a load.
No problem for me except he parked the truck right in front of his house and just left me in there. No food! No water and no place to go to the bathroom. Last night around 8PM he decided to bring me out a few hot dogs and a coke. That was the last time I seen him until 2PM today.
I finally got pissed and called three terminals trying to get a hold of someone because expecting me to stay in the truck for two and a half days with no food, water or bathroom is ridiculous! I have been peeing in a 16oz empty bottle of coke since yesterday.
So finally I get a hold of someone at the terminal and they said that there is not much they can do until Monday morning and to make sure I call driver services first thing in the morning.
Now I am not going to sit out here in the truck and wait for when ever my mentor feels like bringing me food and water because it looks like today I might not get fed until late tonight.
So he strolls on out of his house about 2PM and I confront him. Hey man you are suppose to put me up in a hotel if you are going home. His response was well this was not planned home time so technically he does not have to put me up in a hotel.
So what am I suppose to just sit in this truck until you get ready to leave and I have no food, water or access to a bathroom? I just said take me to a hotel I will pay for it myself. I will call driver services in the morning and let them get to the bottom of this.
Now if he would have parked the truck at a truck stop then I would have no issue because I would have had access to a bathroom, food and water but instead he decided to just park right in front of his house and just leave me to fend for my self with nothing not a store or anything near.
Plus it has been pouring down raining so I cannot even get out of the truck without getting soaked. I sat last night listening to the loud music coming from the house and people going in and out with food and drink. Me I got lucky and got a few nasty hot dogs.
Oh he also did not have the money to put me up in a motel and told me the last student just stayed out in the truck. After I told him to take me to a motel he took my key to the truck away. Now I am worried since he knows that I called this in to a driver manager that he will not pick me up when I am suppose to check out in the morning.
I don't have the money to get home from here especially after having to pay $70 for a room so I can have a place to eat and use the bathroom.
So far all the Swift people I have met and the people I have ran into have been really nice. I have had no issues up until this point besides just sitting a lot waiting on loads this week.
I don't have access to internet but will post a follow up as soon as I can. I just hope Swift will reimburse me for this hotel because it is the mentors responsibility to put me up in a hotel when he goes home for a few days from what the people told me on the phone. He is a lease driver
I am using the hotels computer to get online so maybe sometime this week I can find somewhere to get online to let you all know what's going on.
No food! No water or bathroom and expected to stay in truck

1BIGFOOT Thanks this. -
sorry to hear that happened to you--the guy must truly be a scum bag
the absalute least he could do would have left the truck at the truckstop
better yet--he should have brought you in--gave you a bed/shower and partaken of the party
if it isnt too hard i would switch to another trainer--this one obviously isnt a great personblueeyes40 and 1BIGFOOT Thank this. -
Am I the only one thinking that the trainer may be Mr. Jones?
canuck in da truck and AZS Thank this. -
You know he is a nice guy and everything was going just fine up until now. I use to drive over the road back in the 90's so my driving is just fine and he could tell I have experience. The only reason I have to go with a mentor is because my experience is not recent.
I thought he was an alright guy until yesterday. You know we have not done one pre-trip on this truck at all. hell the hood has never even been opened on this truck. I know this is wrong but he says just log 30 minutes and that's it.
I don't agree I think that the pre trip should be done on a daily basis so what am I suppose to do he owns the truck.
When he climbed in and gave me a few hot dogs last night he looked drunk. Today when he strolled out to the truck he looked like crap. maybe he had way to much to drink last night.
Who is Mr Jones? -
I would report his ###,I would request for another trainer and i would get far away from him as quick as possible.

Here we go again!
The only way Swift is gonna tighten up their trainers is if the students start reporting EXACTLY what occurs! They can't fix what they don't know is broken. They have a support system in place for the trainees. USE IT!
