Why is it that we can't get any loads paying more than a 1.00 off the East Coast??

Or am I the only O/O not getting paid to come off the east coast(mass-md) and need new brokers. Which if you know any than please feel free to share them if you would.

I have both reefer and vented vans, but no flatbeds, yet. $2-3.00 going from midwest to the east coast, but only .80-1.00 coming out no matter where we go including texas , florida or atlanta either, why is this??

Heck I only got a few trucks but can't get the point to point revenue working yet, only can get one way only. Is this an industry wide problem or am I incompentent in my duties of finding good paying loads??

Thanks for letting me ask this stupid question, which others may laugh at, but to me I feel what do I have to lose by asking all you other O/O if you know something that I don't and even if I could increase my miles by even .25 it would be worth it, right??

    Thank y'all

The answer is pretty simple, but it's not going to help your situation out by much. It's a simple matter of supply and demand. there are more trucks hauling freight into the east to meet the demand than there is freight coming out. Most trucks that come out of the rest of the country going to the east want to do nothing more than find anything going out, regardless of the rate. And that cuts the rates for the folks living there.

Basically, you live in a one way freight area, and that impacts the rates. Florida is the same way, sucking freight down into there at decent enough rates, and then providing nothing on the way out. It's more a geographic thing than it is your specific skills or the brokers you choose to use. You just live in an area where the freight is dominated by inbound loads, and that makes outbound loads poor paying.

Freight over all sucks right now and is down pretty bad.

I still have connections at a major O/O company I was leased to and was just looking at their available freight load board and really am fairly glad I'm not trying to compete with the available flat loads right now.

I have a friend who pulls a reefer, and he has told me that the only freight paying over $1 pm was for H&M Bay, pulling seafood( mostly frozen) out of Boston,MA or Federalsburg,MD. Now, before you get too excited, this is only paying around $1.2-1.3 pm, but it is a lot better than 90 cpm. Good luck.

Burky is right, its supply and demand on the East coast, theres alot more trucks wanting out than there are loads.
