Now that spring and summer are coming up, I'm guessing it is a busy time for coke and they are hiring. I don't have any CDL experience yet. I currently deliver for FedEx Ground (small package delivery), and its paying me around $45k/year. Do you guys think Coke will pay around that in the STL area? Any experience with Coke Driver Merchandiser? This may be a good opportunity to get my year of experience...

Can't ya just stay with FedEx and drive their class a FedEx express trucks? I hear they pay very good. And why would you want to work for coke? You are not going to gain any experience with them anyaway and you are going to break your back eventually

No unfortunately FedEx Ground does not work like that. FX Ground has nothing to do with FX Express. And how would driving a Class A Coke truck not give me Class A experience

Cokes trailers are 48 or smaller, so majority of companies need driver to pull 53 footer. Therefore you not gaining any experience. You might have chance with local comoanies, but you will always be in the bottom of application pile.

So by that logic you are saying if I pulled a 48' flatbed OTR for 5 years, I wouldn't have any experience

Companies look at otr drivers more than local. Therefore, they will always one up you. Of course drivers record plays a big part as well

48 foot, 53 foot. whats the difference. where do some of you guys come up with what employers look for. maybe it depends on the state. never heard of such a demand on length of trailer. But hey i guess it depends on where you from

Yes and no. If you drove for coke you'll be on top of the list to do food service or ltl or any other local job compared to an otr guy

My end-game goal is to do fedex freight. So I believe my history with another fedex branch and class a driving with coke, I can obtain a job with freight. My question is, will I be able to pay the bills during that year with coke lol
