anybody out there having any luck getting the rubber under the straps to stay put. We have 3 09 w-9 kw's with a single 135 gal tank. They have been back to kw 3 times each and the last one that was done only lasted 3 weeks before you could see it starting to slide down the strap. I have heard this is a common problem but the kw dealer can't seem to get it fixed and we are way too busy to keep sending them back to get fixed. They said they tried gluing them to the strap, and also put som anti skid tape on the tank and the rubber piece with no luck, Any ideas

3m weatherstrip adhesive on the straps or what i did i had the same problem with my freightliner what i did was went to peterbilt and bought the cloth welting that is used on peterbilt tank straps (you need to measure for length) sand the straps and clean with brakekleen and glue the welting to the straps with the 3m weatherstrip adhesive problem solved and looks better too

hey i havent seen that issue for awhile on KW trucks kind of odd unless the factory forgot something and surely the dealer hsould know of the procedure but look into a anti roll kit it used to be a big issue then tapered off thanks to this slight retro done on them. it only consist of a bar with slots and a special stud made to screw into your tank to keep it from turning and balling up the rubbers. make sure whether or not you have that. otherwise id say seom specs may be off on your straps and they arent getting tight.

We got new Internationals and started noticing the rubber strips sliding out of some of them. Turns out, the straps were loose. Not only were the rubber strips sliding out, but the tanks were shifting as well.

My 92' has the same issue, and I glued them and it still does it. An 04' that I drive does the same thing also.

KW has done all this under warrenty so I'm not sure what type of glue they used. KW also says the tank is rolling but I say if its rolling they either re not getting the straps tight enough or don't want to put that anti roll kit on them. A buddie how runs a shop for a small dump operation also has the same problem and he said he knows the straps are tight

your only thing to do is get the anti roll kit keep that tank from turning there is no other reason you should have that issue after that. i found the TIB from this dated 1995 i could send you a copy with a fax. or email. cannot post to a URL.

thanks I'll have to see about that anti roll kit, they must not know about it or I assume that by the thrid time they have seen each truck they would have put it on

Anti-roll kit is the only way to stop it. No amount of glue will fix it, I've got one truck that I swear the tanks turn sitting in the barn. The longer the truck the worse it is due to frame flex. For future reference if anyone orders a new KW get the 7.5" wide stainless straps. They've been around for a long time but dealers hardly ever offer them. I believe they're only about $900 and they completely eliminate roll, no gravel can get between the tank and cradle and cause a hole and they actually hold the weight of the tank so they don't need those big steel brackets under them.

Great for offroad trucks, and they look 100% better.

I was just under the truck and there is already a anti-roll piece installed under the tank, it is bolted to the tank saddle and then connected to a bung of some kind on the bottom of the tank beside the drain hole I believe. That piece will not allow the tank to move unless it breaks from what I can tell
