Recently bought another truck with a SDP prefix c15, I've only ever dealt with E model cats and one 6nz, safe to say they are pretty much the same engine. My new truck is powered with a SDP cat, it only has 600k original miles and is already tuned. Can I expect this engine to run and feel like my 3406e? So far from my 600 mile trip home with the new truck I am really liking this engine. At 70-75 mph bobtail I averaged about 8.7 - 9.0 mpg I assume that isnt to bad for a 389. Water temp runs about 190F, I was thinking about putting a 170F thermostat before summer starts is this a good idea? Little to no blow by, fresh oil when I pulled the dipstick. Any general tips to prolong the life of this engine, what should or should not be done?

Unless a bunch of stuff "fell" off, they were one of the worst CATs ever produced.

He did mention it was already tuned. If that was the case should be ok.

The company we work along side with did the same thing. Went to auctions bought a bunch for dirt cheap and "fixed" em right
