Foley Carrier Services is a company that offers services such as filing paperwork, permits, drug testing consortium, and the like.
The reason I'm writing this is because their sales efforts are deceiving and an outright scam. If you do not know any better you will be signing up for their services whether you want to or not.
I received a few letters from them with an official looking logo on the front and on the envelope something to the effect of "important" "upcoming D.O.T. audit" and thought it was shady.
Well, today is where I drew the line when I received a phone call from them and this is exactly what it said on my voicemail: "Hello, my name is Tom with Foley Carrier Services. This message is for XXXXX. It's my job to go over your upcoming D.O.T. audit, it's important you return my call. My number is 860-815-0800........"
Sounds like deceptive business practices to me.![]()

My favorites are the faxes from a scam training company that look like official FMCSA notices:
6th AND FINAL WARNING!!!! IF YOU DON'T CALL AND SIGN UP FOR OUR $299 SAFETY TRAINING A PUPPY WILL DIE!!!!ChicagoJohn, ramblingman, spyder7723 and 5 others Thank this. -
Hi HDFatboy,
My name is Alex, I work for Foley Carrier Services, I am sorry that your experience with us was less that satisfactory. We certainly don't aim to deceive anyone, simply to help new carriers with their DOT Compliance ' including the New Entrant Safety Audit. However, our salespeople are instructed to clearly identify themselves as NOT being employees of the DOT. If this did not happen, we would very much like to hear about it. You can PM me here or call us at.
Thank you,
Alex Rose

Well for the record, I have had the same thing happen to me so it doesn't seem to be an isolated incident. There is a very obvious attempt, in my opinion, to confuse the person being contacted into thinking that Foley is a part of the DOT and 'penalties' may be enforced.
It's BS, stop trying to decieve people and be upfront with your sales approach. -
What a crock. We get these messages all the time (and for the record it is not just Foley) and all our puppies are just fine.
ramblingman, Cetane+, Support81 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I use Foley for drug test consortium. No complaints. They were persistent but not deceptive.
I also get the letters in the mail about the DOT holding puppies hostage unless I sign up for supervisor training (not Foley). I will not do business with that company just based on principle. -

I will have to look around but I had one come in the mail that caused me to have concern. I called these morons and told them if they continue to send me mail I would pursue this matter legally. They had a state seal and everything. At least it looked like a state seal. But no worries. I talked with my auditor about these practices and she wants all of the junk mail that I have received bearing the state seal and claiming to be FMCSA on the outside of the envelope. And Mr. Alex you guys are on the list. The harrassment I have received from not only your company is beyond ridiculous. And after I say I am not intersted and don't send me any more mail I still am being contacted.

Eeeek! I fell for it (big shocker!!)! I even wasted 3 hours of my life watching the cheaply-made, laughably poor-acting DVDs. My favorite is the scenario with a driver that has long hair and listens to rock and roll music (obviously needs to be drug tested!).
ramblingman Thanks this.
