Just got an inframe done 5k miles ago. I'm noticing white smoke when I idle. Wasnt losing coolant as far as I could tell up until today I had to put a gallon in. Where could this be coming from? (New charge air cooler, borg Warner turbo,) running out of possibilities.

Are you sure that the exhaust is from coolant? Does it smell like coolant? I know you said that you put in a gallon, but some trucks will spit coolant out of the overflow until they find there smooth spot. Are you sure it's not an injector? Also side you change the air compressor?

First and easiest thing to do is pressure check the cooling system.

    Fuel could be contaminated.

I had a motor overhauled. The shop to save me money, didn't change the fuel filter, because a week earlier I had a oil and filters changed in there shop.

When I left truck was smoking a little white. Mechanic explained it as usual and it will go away.

100 miles later truck shut down. Fuel filter was full of water.

I havent changed the compressor at all. I did have a fault code for the engine speed / crank shaft sensor. Which I changed. Could the timing be off after changing it?

    Coffey Thanks this.

If the timing was off i would think it would throw a code? What motor?

Isx. I forgot to list that. My only engine code is "731" the engine speed sensor/ crankshaft sensor which I switched out but still getting the code. Both sensors are good.

Coolant could have just worked all the air pockets out, may not be losing any. Sure it’s not bluish smoke from oil? Time for an oil change anyways, have the coolant pressure tested. Make sure it will hold 10 or 15 lbs. Make sure it’s not building excess pressure while it’s running.

I dont think so. There are only a few places that coolant goes if you are loosing it. Out the stack, in the oil, or on the ground

Don't think it was air pockets, because he has 5k on the motor after an inframe
