Sitting in Milford, NH and need to get to Eastern Ohio.
Normally, I would hop South and grab some interstate West, but with the storm incoming, the leading edges already being felt here, that's a no-go.
My plan is to fuel in Bow, NH, then take state road 9 west to Keene, NH, and then stay on secondary roads until I approach Albany, N.Y.. at which point I jump on I90 westbound then 271/71 in Ohio.
Never been on state road 9 in New Hampshire though. Should I avoid it, and burn more miles to stay on interstates going North, then South again before getting to Albany?
New Hampshire and Vermont routing advice needed.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
It's almost 9 and Im working on your route issue.Oldironfan and pattyj Thank this. -
go east until hitting route three south, I-495 west around towards 290 then 90 west.
Remember Interstate routes are plowed first and treated first. And the smaller roads are not.
Hoping you are moving like about now. If you stay around up there today long enough, you are not going to do well getting out, the Noreaster is intensifying and is fixing to put down 14 inches in Mass later today and more than that north and east of you.Oldironfan Thanks this. -
The Southern route is out. The Western route as well, now, looking at weather radar.
My current plan is to shoot North, then West. By I-89 then US-4
Bow, NH, for fuel.
Hartford, VT
Killington, VT
Whitehall, N.Y.
Then interstates west and south.
I think that's my best route at this point, despite the extra miles.
I will be rolling in 5 minutes.Last edited: Jan 4, 2018

Be very careful with VT 4 - if I recall areas around Woodstock are truck by permit only. In fact, most of Vermont is this way - the State has like 6 roads that are STAA approved. Lol.
On a normal day I'd use NH 101 to get to VT 9 then ride that right into Troy, NY..... But with the weather... VT 9 could be pretty ugly too.

You’re fine on NH-9.
From NH-9, get on I-91S, to I-90W to NY.
Stay off VT-9, ESPECIALLY in snow. That road accounts for multiple truck accidents every winter. It’s bad enough in summer...
As @KillingTime said, VT-4 east of Rutland is also sketchy.
If you MUST use secondary roads to NY, use VT 103 to Rutland/VT-7.
That’s...narrow and slow, but at least you won’t be as likely to be turned turtle in a ditch....Trucker61016, Cat sdp and KillingTime Thank this. -
