I cant really understand a reason to do deep modernisation of argosy. Some facelifting is enought.

IMO, it would be nice idea to put really good Mercedes Actros cab on US chassis. It is much smoother, more comfortable, silent, and it is safe, made of steel... Yep, it is designed for V engines, not for taller DT15 (I say about cheapper MP2 cab), but this is not a problem

I know, but anyway I saw some accidents like MAN F2000 vs 9800 and Volvo FH vs '02 Argosy and now I'm sure Actros cab is much better then Argosy.

Yep, it is 350 kg heavier, but, really better,

Other benefits - very smooth ride, better any US conv. truck, Mercedes will discontinue MP2 and MP3 soon, becouse they keep building them till the last PLD engine be used, MP4 is made for DD13/15/16 with bigger radiator, r'n'p steering... like Cascadia was made for DD15. So it would be good idea to use discontinued in EU cab for newest argosy.

Most euro trucks meet Swedish standards, cab pillars have to be able to withstand a 15 tonne load each! Euro standard is 10 tonnes per pillar

I know US drivers don't like coe's but if they had to use them I think they would appreciate the comfort of the actros

hard to count f2000 in this since cab is from 1986

mp2 is no longer in production as for mp3 it will remain until 2014 or maybe even later since mercedes is famous to keep models in production for export ( just remember roundhabuer ) which was in production from 1958-1996 and it is still even after 54years but not in germany

but guys outside of europe are hardly accept even actros i think offering something new to them is not good idea

also actros was just recently introduced in brazilian market

and new engines are only with cr

outside of europe there is lack of good fuel middle east trucks are with euro2 engines

btw have you seen om470 new smaller 10.7L engine based on weltmotor

with output from 326-428hp and torque 1700-2100

people thing that really MP4 was made for bigger engine... hah, it was easier to lift MP3 cab.... the truth is that Detroit Diesel 15 (and 13 and 16, called in EU 471) needs bigger radiator and bigger intercooler. and that's why new cab was made!

Look at Cascadia - they did the same with looking heavy hood. and that's why they had to change cabin.

The additional reason to have big rad is to decrease fan use, becouse fan birns up to 1 l/per hour of expencive diesel, and at low speeds when it is hot outdoors it adds 1-5 l/100 km.

Yep, all drivers love conventional trucks, but cabovers got some benefits (hah, cabovers appeared in the USA first) and so cabovers will be used in the use againe after ten years delay,

I hope conv. trucks will be back in Europe too,

I've never seen it, but it was tested in USA and Germany, also called Detroit Diesel DD11

People say it will be available not in Cascadia and Actros but in Axor, may be atego and Business Class M2.

It is not all. Smaller PLD engines, like OM904/906/926 will be discontinued too in 2015 and medium duty CRD euro-6 engines are ready to be introduced now

There are three reasons I'd like to see conventionals back in Europe

    (1) safety... Euro cabs are safe but a bonnet is added frontal protection!

    (2) stupid Eurocrats have given up on stupid length limits.

    (3) look good

Why I wouldnt like to see them back:

    (1) fuel economy would suffer due to less aerodynamic effiency ! That's it !

i would say that new cab is because old one was not at same level as competition largest mercedes cab is something like mid cab of competition by space and also too small bunks

and there was no capacity for cooling of euro6 egr engine

it is very interesting that om471 with 12.8L in euro6 norm have same weight as om444LA 22L v12 bi turbo , (weight of 471 without scr)

new actros 2 or like somebody and me called it mp4 which is wrong is 400kg heavier than mp3

as for cab lifting there is no problem only narrow cab come with manual lifting as serial , wide are electric

as for mercedes mp3 i believe it will be still in production since mercedes have tradition to let old models in production look at this one....

here is mercedes 2624LK mercedes started to produce this generation of trucks in 1958 ....this particular model started production in 1967

they are discontinued in 1996 in germany this one is produced in iran , include original om355 engine with 240hp 16speed zf gearbox and big hub reduction axles....

hard to compare those hp with todays but i believe it is close to 400hp pulling hp

    1624 with 240hp and 3axle trailer overloaded with 55-56t could go 105kmh

those trucks are very very popular in middle east and afica
