    Schneider veteran here.

Latest gig for me is hauling fuel (hazmat tanker), and home daily (but NOT with Schneider).

    Some suggestions for you:

    • Stay away from hazmat tanker duty jobs, until you get some real experience. Those jobs are not really for rookies. Mistakes there are simply too dangerous.
    • Avoid all jobs that have deliveries for any of the "dollar" stores: Dollar General, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, etc. Those jobs will destroy your CDL career, as a rookie driver. Those jobs are best left to drivers with 3+ years experience.
    • Try your best to keep your first job AT LEAST A YEAR. Longer is of course even better. You don't want to look like a job-hopper to later employers. The BEST gigs go to those who show more steady employment.

Looking for local if possible, LA area willing to travel about 35miles .I’ve applied many jobs in the past 2 weeks that say no experience needed. Only got an interview for one just for them to say I didn’t have enough experience. I’ve applied to class A & B

I do have a current point on my MVR for a collision. Other than that nothing

At thus point there is too much information out here on why one should stay away from certain mega fleets. There are several companies out here in 2023 that will now hire a new CDL holder that wouldn't even think of you in the past.

Most LTL companies take new drivers.

Some cryogenic companies take new drivers.

Most food service companies will take new drivers. But it is pure labor unloading those trucks!!!

OTR isn't the only option for a new driver. And despite what some say. It was never the only option. But ppl would quickly go to Swift, CRST, CR England. And after those companies put a bad taste in there mouth. The person would say #### trucking. But it doesn't have to be like that. There are far better places to start!!!!!

    Airgas
    North Hollywood, CA
    • !!! HOME EVERY NIGHT !!!
    • Pay: CDL A License holders make $30/hr..
    • Pay: CDL B License holders make $28.47/hr.
    • Monday-Friday schedule with the occasional weekend
    • We start work in the morning and end in the late afternoon
This one does not show any "required" experience. Some Airgas facilities throughout the USA do hire new cdl school grads and a couple of drivers on this forum went there after graduation.
