If you have no experience with trucks, ELDs, navigating WITH A 70 FOOT TRUCK, and reading the minds of customers you've never spoken to before you should WANT a 2 month training period with an experienced trainer.

The internet & YouTube causes everything to look far more simple & easy than any of those things are in reality. You have far too much confidence than you should & after going to 2 customers you will know you don't know what you are doing.

I can't speak to either company. I have tried to transfer YouTube University skills into the real world before.

Of those mentioned -- I'd take the offer from Knight (if it's still available) over the others -- hands down.

    Why?

ALL the above offers will require an orientation.

The 30k sounds tough -- but it's good medicine. You need that time on a trainer's truck to really learn the ropes of the profession.

Also: Knight offers dry van, reefer, & flat bed freight types. With Knight -- you could try (& learn) them all -- & without the hassles & headaches of changing employers. Thus -- you could duck the "job hopper" bullet completely.

Plus: with Knight -- you would have access to a lot of company terminals & dropyards across the US....for parking at the end of your work shifts.

That doesn't seem like a big deal now -- but trust me, later on....you'll be glad you did. Finding a place to park your rig at the end of your work shift is one of the biggest problems you will later face as an OTR truck driver -- particularly in/near urban areas -- & especially up in the northeast.

    Work smarter -- not harder.
