I’ve narrowed down 5/6 offers to start at a company to these two:
May Trucking- 48 OTR Less training, less being in a truck with someone, which I might prefer.
Melton Truck Lines- 48 OTR Flatbed, which is intriguing and sounds like something I would enjoy. But 3-4 weeks training otr.
Both offered me orientation 5/12/25. Does anyone have any suggestions or experiences to share? TIA

Both good choices. Depends on if you prefer reefers or flatbeds.
In the big scheme of things, a long trucking career, the training period is nothing.

    1.) Where do you live?

2.) What do you want to do?

There is an awful lot of knowledge on this board and this would help members to help you.

That is actually my thinking also...career down the road. I cannot say that I want to do flatbed, heavy haul, oversize etc for my career. I am thinking more like doing line haul or fuel delivery later on.
I think they're both decent companies, but Melton sure has put me threw an enormous amount of interviews and I haven't even started yet.

Gotcha, should have posted this lol.
I am in Northern California. I cannot say that I want to do flatbed, heavy haul, oversize etc for my career. Just wondering if doing the flatbed for now will really give me that much more in pay while gaining experience?

Where are you in Northern California? Which town or city are you near? Might get some leads on line haul jobs you may qualify for in 6 - 12 months.

I am close to Sacramento, close to Roseville. That would be awesome if I could!

I was also offered by Schneider, Knight, System Transport and Western Express lol.
Schneider pays only 0.38CPM and no pets
Knight sounded decent, but then I learned about the orientation part/30K mile solo thing
System would have been great also, best pay, but no pets
Western told me orientation was booked until 02/26 and I know I can do better than them lol

    nextgentrucker Thanks this.
