Hello everyone! I just obtained my CDL Class A a couple days ago and I am feeling really good about it! I have a potential opportunity to run under a family member's MC number (small trucking company) until I age mine, but he is asking me to get some real driving experience with an actual 53' trailer as he doesn't have the time to train me given the limited time that he has.
And by the way, I have already went ahead and purchased a used truck, 2018 Cascadia 126 with 380k miles. I have also already incorporated and obtained all my DOT, MC, CA numbers and etc.
My question to you all is what would be my best option of going about with this given situation? What type of company should I start out with or are there places where they can strictly train me? If you know or have any experience in the LA area please let me know. Thank you so much in advance.

It’s going to be difficult.
You just got your license and bought into a high risk business without knowledge,
maybe @Chinatown can help.tscottme, WhatsHaulin, Peplow and 2 others Thank this. -
How much insurance money are you going to flush down the toilet waiting for your #’s to age?
I had zero problems getting loaded with a brand new MC#.. I just don’t get the thinking about aging your numbers.. You’re more likely to get turned down due to no inspections.
Just jump right into the fire, grab a 53’ trailer and go..WhatsHaulin and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
Do you have endorsements?

Be a company driver with any company that uses 53' trailers, reefers or dry van. Easier to be hired by a reefer company these days because of the recession.

Don't tell any company you bought a truck and just need some experience with a 53' trailer or you won't be hired.tscottme, WhatsHaulin and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
I'll post some names of companies that pull 53' trailers and that hire California drivers. Not all companies hire California drivers because the state laws make life miserable for company drivers and owner/operators; especially owner-operators.
