Hey all. Got me a bearcat 880 and hooked it up in my truck with the built in antenna, FL cascadia. Did the Diagnostic's check and everything is good. Anyone can tell me how I should set the squelch and rf gain?
New cb squelch rf gain ?

Everybody has their own preference; here's mine:
A two step process. For regular monitoring:
Turn squelch full off.
Increase squelch until static ceases then go just a touch more
Now set local:
Press and hold RF Gain button to enable Local RF setting. Turn channel selector to lower the gain to the desired decrease (scale is 1 min to 5 max. Try 2 or 3).
Press RF Gain button again to lock that setting.
Once you have it set just hit the RF Gain button to drop the weaker signals and weed out the trash.
I usually just leave mine on regular and nudge the squelch up to keep the weeds out. Only when it gets really dirty do I engage the BS filter (hit the local setting)
