Yeah, lots of Canadian drivers on this forum. All Canadians are welcome.

 

It may be due to insurance reasons. It is sometimes difficult for companies to insure newer drivers or even ones under the age of 25. Larger trucking companies seem to have a little more luck when it comes to getting new graduates on to their insurance.

Reach out to Trimac Transportation, Contrans or Challenger Motor Freight. They might be able to work with you.

Humber is one of the better places to obtain your training, so you’ve got that going for you.

 

My brother in law was at Contrans. He said they treated him really well there, and he was a fussy old fart.

 

Challenger, bison, kriska, transx, verspeeten, Gibson, one world, highlight, trailwood transport, erb, to name a few, take a ride thru the truck stops take some notes, you will find something. Go in pick up the little magazine it's full of places looking for drivers.

 

Bison is the closest you guys have to a mega up there, right?

 

No there's a few. The transforce group is probably the biggest they seem to be buying everything. Transx is a good size outfit. By canadian standards of course. Plenty of the auto parts haulers are pretty big. Challenger is big, drivers seem to mostly be happy there. "Big" I would guess 200 trucks (?). Transforce is a bunch of companies, all same logo and font, if I had to guess total they'd be way more 2000? 5000?

 

Saw a billboard on Highway 11 for Chantler Transport that said new drivers welcome. Although their website says 3 years experience.

 

Things are kind of tight right now, demand is down, as such rates go down and so does the demand for drivers. They will lay off, find reasons to get rid of drivers, in contrast when it's busy they'll take anyone with a pulse. This industry is very cyclical, may just need to hold out a bit. Unless you got about a quarter million to buy me out.
