recently updated trucks from a 99 pete n14 cummins to an 06 pete c15 acert. the truck does great and motor seems fine but it lacks hp when your going from 9th to 10th. it also does terrible on mpgs. was wondering if there is any thing i can do to gain more of these, or is this motor just a fuel drinker? dont know much about cats, always ran n14s. thanks!
Need more HP and MPG out of my 06 c15 acert

keep reading, do a search on c15 acerts and tons of info will come up,
-
Take the truck to a Cat dealer have them install the 550hp heavy haul tune. Night and day difference
-
Heavy Haul tune wont do much, anything from CAT is restrictive, if you want to see a HP and MPG difference you will have to consider an aftermarket tune from places like PDI or Diesel Spec or get a Bullydog tuner, any tune from CAT will give you same basic result you have know, if you want night and Day difference go aftermarketCetane+ Thanks this.

If he's wanting something that he can have a warranty with or stock type file heavy haul tunes are good. If he's like us then yes aftermarket would be the best, but stay away from Bully Dog tuners.Last edited: Nov 30, 2013

tell me why to stay away from Bullydog, I got 1, running .3 mpg better and have a custom tune running 700+.... egr temps 150 cooler and water temp is easier to control then stock, and if he has warranty he can return it to stock tune before bringing in a Cat Shop....what bad experience have you had with BD
-
Exhaust Gas Temps are higher then what other tuners or custom tunes are.
-
well there are others on this forum that have the same results as me, and I can tell you my egt is 150 lower then stock and if its running too hot or you are not satisfied with results you can contact Bullydog and they will write you a custom tune...FREE OF CHARGE to better suit your needs. So if you are someone you know has a BD and they are not liking results the fix is only a phone call and short conversation away
-
yes maybe PDI tunes have a lower egt reading, but as long as reading is in the safe range it don't matter if its 750 or 850,

I have a pdi tune on a c12 ull lose almost .8-1 mpg with winter blend fuel. So don't be alarmed when your mpg isn't the best till spring. I average a 6.1 now and 7 with non winter blend.
