    Hey
I would like some advice. I started trucking in May 2020. I came into the trucking industry with 2 accidents with my personal vehicle 1 in October 2019 (scraped parked vehicle while pulling out) & another December 2019 (someone else was driving but I took the blame) [bad idea I also never seen myself in trucking I wouldn’t of don’t that] anyway no tickets for any of those & no injuries, no tow needed. In December 2021 got into my first cmv accident. Was in bumper to bumper traffic going 5 mph & hit a trailer in front of me. No injury, no tow, no ticket/citation. & I’m September 2022 side swiped car no damage to tractor but car driver side door was scratched & mirror was hanging. No tow, no citation/ticket, no injury. Worse day ever. My mom passed & her funeral was the next day. I wasn’t even supposed to be on the road but they said I had to deliver the load couldn’t just drive home even though i was lease & paid my own fuel with my own fuel card. The company I was with said it was fine & the investigation was done but then I get called in because they said I breach my contract because I took off too long for my moms funeral & the car cost more than they thought it would to fix so I was let go. So do I give up on trucking or try a second chance company. I applied to another company but they said I have 4 accidents so they cannot hire me. I was under the impression that accidents fall off or is that a myth. I also got my 3 year mvr from the state of pa the October 2019 isn’t on there. Also I got my psp & it’s clean. I don’t know what else to do besides keep applying & get my dac report. Any advice?

Just some clarity on the timeframe. They waited a month before letting me go.

Well...the October one probably just fell off, but you still have those other 3 accidents on your license, combined with the fact that you're relatively inexperienced, and that's what insurance companies are looking at. The December 2019 should fall off here soon so that'll help you some. It's going to be difficult that's for sure. Whether it's impossible, I can't say. The reality is that you may end up with a company that doesn't have the best of reputation, but if a job is what you're after, take whatever you can get and hone your skills while you clean up your record. Earn money, and get straight.

I’d take a break. Hit another industry. One of my boys got a local job at a food production plant. Making good money. If you don’t want to leave the industry you can try dispatch. Wish you the best.

Get your DAC report, then you'll know what to list on job applications.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. Your first accident in a cmv was rear-ending a trailer at 5 mph? How does that happen? Not poking fun or being mean, it is just sheer morbid curiousity.

The four accidents are a lot. Two in a very short career. Your career maybe over. Our resident expert, Chinatown, has already responded, which is step one of helping. He needs your location.

There are a few 2nd chance companies. Western Express is one. They have to get you approved by their insurance company, if they are not self insured. It is an uphill battle, but one you might win with due diligence. You might look at maybe being a yard jockey. Gotta be careful when manuerving these trucks. Good luck in whatever you decide.

I was going to suggest the yard jockey route as well, as it can be a good way to stay in the industry without being held to the strict insurance standards. However, the OP seems prone to accidents in close quarter/low speed situations and yard jockey work is pretty much 100% close quarter/low speed. Could still work if the OP can get those close quarter skills under control.

First of all - sorry about your Mom. Focus and stop being careless. Don't look for or take shortcuts - they just jam you up and speak to your character. Beware of the "too good to be true" schemes. Lastly - don't give up!
