Need help learning how to up shift & down shift 10 speed transmission.

A class for UPS??? Or orientation??

 

How did you obtain your cdl, without learning how to shift a manual transmission?

 

That was going to be my next question. I wouldn't think UPS would hire someone with an "auto only" restriction.

 

Great minds think alike, eh? I don't think they would either.

 

Real post or? because if so. I got screwed.

 

If you've learned how to shift a manual big truck, but a different transmission...there really isn't much difference between the modern 9, 10, 13, 18 speeds as far as timing...9 and 10's only have one switch where a 13 and 18 have 2.

 

Maybe it's the Ukranian Polar Sevice.

Most raggedy white Volvos have 10s.. and large spaces on the dash to rest your flip flop.

 

You can get your CDL w/o the auto restriction using a 6 speed class 7(?) truck and a puobtrailer. It just has to be registered at 26,001 or greater.

I'm in the same situation...I have the auto restriction and need to take the road test in a manual for a new job. Going to one of the single day schools I will test in a "regular" 6 speed, not a 10 , 13, etc. so technically, I still wont know HOW to drive the class 8 manual.

 

Never driven anything more than a 10 speed but it's not that complicated. Just go through all the gears, flip the switch, then go through them again.
