The Water Fuel Separator also acts as the Fuel Filter too.

Just had an identical truck with same issue. Cummins ISM with Daveco Fuel Bowl. Replaced the check valve in the fuel bowl. Part #DVC 101132
Not every problem is the same though.
You did not post important INFO. Engine type

The motor is a Cummins ISM

The check valve fixed your problem?

Yes With the check valve not holding prime it will cause hard starts and poor suction of fuel. This would be where I would start for sure. Cheap and easy.

Right on...Davco filters are ready for replacement when normally "full".
If that doesn't fix, check to see if there is a starting relay signaling the computer to fire the injectors. Prolly not tho'.
Buy the Davco wrench too. Seem to remember they market a kit w/extra seals & check valve (s).

Thank you. Replaced the Check Valve. The old and new were different sizes. When I changed the first filter is when the truck started not starting without help. The ball must have changed positions enough not to create a seal. The new part worked great. It now starts on its own again. Still cranks a little longer than I would like, but at least it is firing up. Thank you for your help!

Right on....everyone was confused when the Davco came out. Glad it's fixed.
