Hi! I'm looking for ideas for a gift to get a friend of mine who is a trucker. Nothing expensive or fancy - I'm on a limited budget. But something that will be appreciated and used! What do you need? What do you use? Any thoughts or suggestions. I could really use the help. Thanks.

This is my idea of a great present. Something home cooked or baked I can take with me on the road. You can't imagine how much I personally hate truckstops and their food. I love to eat a normal meal, not subway, not in a restaurant.

If he or she likes books, find an audio book by their favorite author, one they don't have yet.

A throw, blanket for the bed.

A roll of quarters and laundry sheets (detergent in sheet form), which are so nice to have, nothing spills, and I am always hunting for change to do laundry.

If he has an ipod, download some new music, if not, burn a CD with some great tunes.

Get a movie they always wanted on DVD to take on the road, if there is a TV in the truck.

We are not different from anyone else. Any thoughtful gift is appreciated I am sure.

Thanks, great ideas! I was already working on the ipod playlist! The quarters never even crossed my mind. I really appreciate your help.

I would get him a tool he could use. Gerber makes a nice multi-tool that comes with a nice pouch you wear on your belt. In fact they have one that's called the Gerber Diesel Tool. They sell for a little over $50. I used mine all the time.

Black ink pens. Lil' Fat Notebooks. A Sony (or other brand) digital voice recorder if he/she doesn't already have one. Air fresheners/febreeze spray. flip-flops for the truckstop showers. heavy duty paper towels & windex. brown jersey gloves. micro-fiber lens cloths. visene. white-out. batteries (AAA, AA, 9volt, D for the.....), Maglight. Metal polish. New mattress. New seats. New tires. Since we're going there, a new truck.

How about an aluminum folder/holder for the log book. Something he/she will use for many years to come.

Only about $25 at the local truck stop. And worth it's weight in gold IMHO.

If you're not familiar with what I'm talking about. It resembles those little aluminum ticket holders that Police use....only bigger.

IF you have access make a little photo mosaic of pics of frineds family pets ect and make it to hang on the visor or stick to the wall of the bunk. I do that for my hubby and change it every 2-3 months....just a hug from home.

GOOD socks! Baby wipes, heat and eat microwave meals..Hormel makes some really good ones and yes they are better than truck stop food especially when a driver is hungry and tired.
