how do trucking companies verify work experience? for example JB HUNT, how do they verify? does every company use DAC, how do i know if i am on Dac? the recruiter says it is only done via faxing past employers.

Just another recruiter lie . Do you put fax numbers on job applications ? FMCSA requires employers to inquire to past employers and keep copies of the inquiries and responses in the driver's file .

From my recent experience on the desk side of the windshield... I did the recruiting for our company several months last year.
Nearly ALL companies are on DAC.
Many of the larger companies, like JB Hunt, use a verification service. In those cases the recruiter receives an email. Of course, with D&A results, it gets more complicated since you still have to fax a signed release from the applicant. For most companies, though, the verification is by fax for the reason RickG mentioned. They have to maintain copies of the verification correspondence in your personnel record should you be hired.

Are you suggesting that you may wish to falsify your application? There is a federal website where anyone can logon, and find any trucking company in the United State and many carriers use it. It's called safersys.org. You can also find driver information on there too.

That's correct. The prospective employer has t call your past employers and get a fax # and get your past info. on paper. They can't verify on the phone like they used to. Also they will get a copy of your DAC, some companies go strongly off of the DAC and some realize that the DAC isn't always what it seems to be.

I drove many years and never was on any DAC system. Not all companies use them, not even some of the bigger companies. My company had a department that would verify employment and there was some very strick rules they must go by.

They start by what you tell them on your job application. And Rick is right you will need phone numbers and not fax numbers. And whatever you do don't try to cover anything up because if you're caught your career is over right then and there.
