What mods are you wanting to do? I ask because the HTX-100 isn't a good radio to try to convert to 11m CB or open up for general coverage. It's based off of Uniden's 2510 design and most people think it's just as easy to mod, but it isn't. Uniden cut corners making the HTX-100 for Radio Shack that really limits what you can do to it.

I agree it is a old radio unless you have a real need to fool with one I would go with something newer...

Actually, the HTX-100 is simple to convert. I just don't have the tools and parts. It's a simple ground removal/jump. It opens it up from 26.000 - 29.999

LSB and CW is a simple capacitor change.

I had a 2510 in the past. Loved it. But to call the HTX-100 an inferior knock off, is just wrong. While many of the internals are similar. The HTX actually has some internal features that are superior to the 2510.

Agreed the HTX does not have some features of the 2510. But again, the mods are relatively simple. I just need access to a scope and parts. Or someone that is familiar with the radio, that can do the work.

It was free, it works, it's in mint condition. You gonna give me a newer radio?

Just to rub salt in that wound. Run a search for the HTX-100 and the 2510, and see what they're going for on Ebay.

Not bad resell for a 20+ year old radio.

The HTX-100 converts the sames as a HR 2510 or HR 2830.

If you are near West Memphis, I would call Ray across from the McDonalds. He is the best in these parts. I think there is a guy near the Tillitobia Exit 220 on I-55 that is supposed to be an expert also.

    Yes...Yes...Yes... hunk a junk I understand.

But I like it. Had a 2510 for almost 20 years. The controls are similar, the performance the same, and the sound (both ends) is excellent.

It's something I'm very familiar with. Like an old blanket.

Besides... I'm not a licensed Ham Op. I could get a quality ham radio easily. But I don't operate on 10 meter, so why bother?

Something you must admit. Despite it's shortfalls, the quality of the HTX & the 2510 is STILL better than the majority of CB's out there.
