You have “Jesus” tattooed on your neck? No employer will bother you, because that will fall under “religious freedom” laws and is protected. Absolutely no Human Resources-related dept would dare say a thing. They would know better.
You’re too worried about this. Fill out apps, get a job, and roll on!Another Canadian driver and Moosetek13 Thank this. -
Why put obstacles in your own way?

Any trucking co. will have a co. policy, kinda, sorta. I did see a new hire get sent home, too many tatts at orientation one time. But he shows up wearing tank top with full sleaves, neck, chest etc. He obviously failed to impress either the safety guy or the operations mgr. I have ventured away from trucking a few times over the years and sold cars. I have 4 tattoos, 2 on each arm. I applied wearing a long sleave shirt and showed up to work wearing a long sleave shirt. For 2 reasons, not to piss off mgmt and not to piss off a potential customer !

a neck tattoo is way less offensive than some of the ragbags that slide out of truck with flies buzzing around them as they shuffle to the office.

It’s not the tattoo per say and not the word ‘Jesus’ it’s just that when people who don’t have tattoos see people with them on their neck and other visible places it’s not that they’re “offended” it’s more like they just see someone who is impulsive and makes poor decisions and they don’t want a poor decision made on their property or their equipment.
Now Jesus is a tasteful tattoo, just perhaps not placed on the best area. Most tattoos I see are frankly ridiculous and things like dragons and pistols and barbed wire and I’m like yeah I may of thought that cool when I was 12 but seeing a grown man with that nonsense all over his skin just seems completely stupid to me. But it’s his skin, he can do with it what he wants. Just so long as he realizes others may judge him harshly for that decision.RockinChair and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
I have heard good well-reasoned arguments pro and con about tats. I spoke to a VP of operations of a more than thousand-unit fleet several years ago. He told me that generally speaking, they draw the line with tats on the neck and face. This came from the feedback they received from sending out requests for opinions about that carrier's service. One customer actually called the logistics company that controlled the shipment and said they did not want that driver back on their property because he had gang tats on his neck. That carrier as called and after calling in the driver he was basically fired. Full body tats are one thing, tats on the neck and face are another. I have heard several people say most of the time people with these tats have served time.
If you have such a tat I suspect there might be some carriers that will hire you, but only if they have no other option and need to put a warm body in a truck.
I don't have tats. I also don't have issues with tats as long as they are not vulgar. Over the years I have seen a lot of people men and women with full-body tats. Every one of them won't put tats above their collarbone.JoeyJunk and Moosetek13 Thank this. -
Most tattoos are not as offensive as a T -shirt my driver trainee wanted to wear into a shipping office. It had a picture of a soda can with human features on it under the words:
"Pimp Juice: Good to The Last Drop!"Warrior Pump and JoeyJunk Thank this. -
I can't imagine any OTR outfit having a problem with any neck tattoo. Your experience and driving record are your limiting factors. Some more militaristic places like Averitt might have a problem with it, though.
ducnut Thanks this.
