Yep...And I seen times when those were fighting words too, if someone was using the same handle as another!
Handles and "Numbers" are still widely used on CB. But mostly on channels other than channel 19. "Truckers" for the most part are the only ones that for some reason quiet using a handle.
Handles were originally started by "Outlaw" CB'ers who didn't want to pay for a CB License, or have to use Call Signs when talking on CB Radios. So to keep the FCC from finding out who they were, they made up fake names or "Handles". This is another reason that made CB radios so popular in the Mid 70's...And was the final blow to the FCC trying to enforce having people that wanted to talk on a CB, get their License, and use their Call Sings when Keying up....(sorta like the way Ham Operators do now...)
It was so "Out of control", the FCC just gave up on CB License, and enforcing their own rules to some extent.

My "handle" is Gamen. I still use that name in Red Orchestra. My Favorite Swedish band did a song about a vulture.

Well, I see to remember some feller on TV along about Christmas every year who is hawking something about a Star Registry. And if he can find folks dumb enough to send him money on this, why not a Handle Registry? Hell, wish I'd a done thought it up. . .

I like this idea, I would register and I know that all the local base station guys would love this they use their CBs more than anybody.

I still have mine. And yeah, us so-called old timers may want it back. It reminds me of a time when trucking was fun.

Issued June '92. I found it yesterday going through some stuff and wondered if it was "valid" anymore
