I do pretty good with mine. It's not a set discount off the price. It varies sometimes it's a lot sometimes not so much. I get an email of what the prices are for the day after my discount so I can compare what the price is for all the stops in the state. My card gets deals with small chains like sapp and little America and kwik trip. It works well for my operating area. It is through efs. I prepay and load a few thousand onto the card and it is a draw down type deal. Only fee is a 1.00 per transaction fee.
I should also note because I also run Canada it gives usually about .15 to .20 per litre below what flying j or husky has posted for their price.

All thoes places are in our network as well. I get 2500.00 credit line for 7 days. No transaction fee but $3.75 a month fee. Also has a good deal on road service calls and tires if needed. You can aso take cash draws for $1 if needed. %10 off truck washes.
I only use it for fuel and truck washes though. -
I can look up pricing when ever I want on there website. I get a receipt emailed to me the same day and a statement at the end of the week.

NASTC lowest i5 prices in each state (w/o IFTA):
Bakersfield, CA: $1.98*
Portland, OR: $2.00
Arlington, WA: $1.91*
* NASTC's online price list is often listed higher than actual for small Mom & Pop stations like these ($0.04 off cash @ Arlington, and $0.01 off cash @ ez trip) so you do have to look up their current cash price elsewhere and subtract your discount
That said, I didn't notice a huge savings in fuel cost -- a few dollars/month (after counting NEST & annual NASTC fee), compared to shopping around with cash, but I saved a ton of time by being able to pay & go at the pump, getting receipts online instead of waiting in line. Plus, as someone over the road, being able to get free showers at major chains was a big money saver.
Edit: You also get a small discount for TA/Petro serviceLast edited: Aug 23, 2016
DSK333, bbechtel16 and ramblingman Thank this. -
$2.259 Fresno, that includes road taxes. Road tax rate IFTA is 0.45 per gallon roughly.
double yellow Thanks this. -
PS: CA IFTA has gone down -- its now $0.40 (OR is 0, WA is $0.494) -
I understand that IFTA fluctuates. I don't get my pricing off of 5th Wheel.
I checked on NASTC fuel pricing extensively when I got my own authority in January. No way I could justify going to TN or wherever it was for a seminar, $250 annual fee, etc.
I do just fine. But hey, more power to the way anyone chooses to do it. I just object to the guys that claim they're saving $400 to $500 a month on NASTC program, without qualify what that means.

ramblingman and gokiddogo Thank this. -
No other card gives you the same discounts at Ta/Petros. Even Schneider guys use Nastc, because they get bigger discount than Schneider gives them. Land star, for example, gets pretty much the same price also. To sum it up, one guy operation pays the same for fuel with Nastc, as Mega guys do with their volume purchasing powerDSK333, HopeOverMope and spax Thank this. -
Here's some of my prices for I-5 for today. (ifta not included)
Bakersfield Easy Trip exit 253 1.939
Jubitz Portland OR 2.004
Arlington WA exit 208 1.945
Tukwila WA exit 156 1.977
that's good enough for me ... and this isn't really in my operating area. Not worth it to me as a 1 truck guy to make the pilgrimage to TN for their course and then add the $250 yearly fee.
At Fresno it is showing posted price at 2.259 (taxes in)
If I had company drivers I'd more likely get on the NASTC bandwagon. For now, I prefer to do things this way. I much prefer the small stops over the chains anyway.
I should also add that it is not easy to set up a payment system being Canadian and trying to get on NASTC. That was a turn off for me when I looked into possibly getting on their program.double yellow Thanks this. -
I was not trying to convince anyone just throwing out my experience with them. I'm glad you got a program that works for you. Most of the oo I know just pay full price then wine about it. I pass along the info to them and let them know there are other options. None have taken me up on the help.
The guy I'm leased to said "if you get a good enough rate it shouldn't matter".
Well I try and attack it from both angles.
like I said he has made more money in trucking than I have so what do I know?
I do know his fleet fuel cost is .14 cpm more than mine is. He has drivers and let's them do what ever they want. I do write HIM a check for %10 every week so I guess that makes him smarter than me. LolLast edited: Aug 23, 2016
